Whether your guests have assigned seating or you are allowing your guests to take a seat wherever they wish, table names are crucially important if you are having a buffet style meal. With buffet style meals, caterers usually dismiss guests by table to get up and serve their meals. Without table numbers on each table, no one will know who get to go first. This is also vital in avoiding a long line at the buffet line.
